But this really made me scratch my head and I had to share.

The newest candidate for mayor wants to brand Halifax the "Vegas of the East" with more strip clubs and casinos.
David Boyd would also like to see the satellite sin city moniker pushed through the sale of liquor in corner stores after midnight, and permitting bar patrons to have "take-out" drinks at closing time.
It’s all in aid of making Halifax "a party city" – a goal that the mayor wannabe puts smack at the top of his priority list.

So, we're just gonna ignore the fact that cheap liquor in bars is a major contributor to the rise in crime 'round these parts?
That actual Las Vegas has an extremely high crime rate? That's who we should emulate?
Give me a f-ing break.
Tourists do not come here for casinos and strip clubs. Dude...check your research.
The only things I do agree with him on is no city planning without consulting the people (things like school closures and street widening) and greater protection for cab drivers and bus drivers (a good friend of ours is a bus driver...my heart drops whenever I hear about a driver being assaulted).
Chances are that he won't even actually get to run...he has yet to raise funds for the campaign. And hopefully the demographic he is reaching out to...is likely spending their money in the bars.

Doesn't seem like he's actually very popular with voters either - 94 votes out of 7000 ballots cast? I don't think we need to worry about him too much.
uhm... perhaps he had been practicing what he is preaching and had been out partying prior to his comments? (and his demographic is probably too apathetic to vote anyways.)
