See...my baby boy, turned 2 on Saturday!! (His birth announcement is here, total birth story here, includes pics of me knitting in labour, lol)
We kicked off the celebration on Friday when we met with the group of mommies who knit (this group being how I got my start knitting...some of the mommies have changed but the support is the same!) I brought cupcakes:
Gabriel tried to blow out the candles after each verse of the song, it was pretty cute.
Saturday we had the big bash
He had presents that he was excited about
An awesome Wall-E cake made by my Mom
He's getting the hang of this candle thing!
After the party we weren't quite ready for supper yet and it was such a gorgeous day that we headed down to the Salt Marsh Trail
Where we took in the scenery...
Built an Inukshuk
(Heritage Moment anyone?)
Threw some rocks in the water
(what is it with kids and throwing rocks in water? It's irresistible to them!)
We only went as far as the 1km marker, turning around at the first bridge and heading back. But....it was enough for one small person
Good thing Phil has a nice strong back, as he was carrying both Grace and a sleeping Gabriel much of the way back to the van. Next time...we bring the wagon.
Sunday I made more cupcakes and brought them out to Mom and Dad's place. Mom had missed the party because she had to work so we did the Birthday song one more time...
All in all, not a bad way to turn 2!
Side note: Today is the anniversary of Gabriel's naming. Prior to his birth we had talked about boys names but not really settled on one. And since we were 100% positive that we were having a girl, we didn't think we really needed a boy's name...Mom says the look on my face when it was announced that it was a boy was priceless. We couldn't decide on a name, so for nearly 48 hours he was Baby Boy or Little Man. Finally, we decided to try out the name Gabriel, and it fit. It was worth the wait.
