Wednesday I took the children to the Harry Potter carnival at the library (you'll have to remember to ask Alison about Unicorn care).
We stepped through to Platform 9&3/4

Did a variety of activities including Quidditch, library style
Although Grace refused to ride

We hit Diagon Alley and made wands.
Or rather, Cameron made a wand

And Grace decorated her face with letters

To answer a couple of questions from yesterday's post; Why yes, we did make it down to the Pirate's Landing.
When we got there though, we discovered that the big pirate had over indulged

Sad.
Grace and I got "inked"

Then Grace and Daddy got swallowed by a whale!

The kids fired some "cannons" and got some pirate booty and overall enjoyed themselves.
Closer to home, they amused themselves for a while watching the trout in the lake jump for the bugs, and of course tossed some rocks (because what kid doesn't like to throw rocks in the water!)

Today was a special day

My parents joined us for a dinner, I made truly fantastic salmon (it was marinated in maple syrup...omg! it was so freakin good) that must have been tasty because every one had seconds.
Then Gabriel gave his daddy a very special gift:

His very first laugh. Came straight from his belly, in response to his Grampy's silly antics. Best noise EVER!!

What great photos!! And wasn't that whale the coolest thing ever?? I need to borrow a kid so I can actually go through it!
Take my kid if you like. I had a hard time getting him out of the whale on Friday!
Wasn't platform 9 3/4 cool? She made three of them out of scrap fabric and paint. It's not washable though!
Wow marinated salmon in maple syrup, Please send me the recipe. I am always looking for new ways to cook salmon. Thank you a KVVS traveler.
